#AdventureCalling – April 2021

Who’s excited about being able to travel a bit further afield and start exploring the wild places again?  I know I am!  Our local, open spaces have provided some much needed outdoors time, but honestly, I can’t wait to visit somewhere new.  Saying that, we visited a not been to in recent memory, local National Trust site recently and had a really fab time.  We strolled through the woods and gardens, Rowan spotted birds and Rocky handled all the other dogs brilliantly – what a brave doggo!

#AdventureCalling – December 2020

Can you believe it’s December already?  It’s certainly been a unusual/difficult year for most of us, but hopefully you have been able to get outside, maybe exploring local areas a bit more.  We’ve recently been to local parkland watching the deer, and I’ve also found a quiet local field that has great visibility.  Having visibility is fab for me and my two fearful mutts as they get a bit of off lead running and I can keep an eye out for other “scary” dawgs whilst watching their happy faces as they charge about.  It’s certainly better than pavement pounding.

#AdventureCalling – Outdoor Linky 66

Hiya, and welcome back to #AdventureCalling. What is everyone up to this wet and windy half term? The boy was off last week, and for something a bit different, we spent a few days in London, exploring the museums, the Tower of London and seeing the sights. I even coped with the London Underground – this is what I was most nervous about. We had a fantastic time!

Every other Wednesday, me and Lauren from the Helpful Hiker would love to hear what you have been up to in the great outdoors – your big expeditions, mini adventures, days out, hints and tips. We love old posts and new posts too. If it’s outside, we want to read it.

I’ve found a lot of inspiration for things to do or places to visit from the #AdventureCalling linky so hopefully there will be something for you too. It is also a good way of reaching new readers and supporting other outdoor bloggers. Each week, Lauren and I will read and comment on every post, and we will each pick a favourite. Last time, Lauren’s favourite post was from The Hungry MountaineerHolcomb Creek and the Beavers. It was a really lovely post about being out in nature with friends. My favourite was The Fish with a Wish from Next Best Thing to Mummy. I love the ideas of books getting the message of looking after our planet across to children.
Below are some notes on how #AdventureCalling works. Hopefully everything is working, but do please give me a shout if there are any problems. Feel free to tweet me your posts should you have any difficulties adding them to the link up but don’t forget to pop back to read each other’s posts.

  • Add our #AdventureCalling badge to each post that you link up using the code below.

  • You can link up a maximum of two posts and they can be old or new, we don’t mind!

We’re back with #AdventureCalling.  What has everyone been up to for the last two weeks?  Father Christmas did indeed manage to find some microspikes in tiny feet size, and I was very excited but unfortunately, a pretty painful back scuppered any plans for big walks.  Things a looking better now, and we have a winter tree walk – learning about tree identification – to look forward to.

It’s #AdventureCalling time again already.  The last two weeks have flown by.  In amongst the Christmas shopping, parties and the big baby toy clear out, we’re still missing get out as much as we’d like to.  But it’s the last day of work for a few days and I have plans to get us outside somewhere.  Rumour has it that Father Christmas may have been able to source some microspikes for tiny adult feet too, so fingers crossed.

So we’re officially in autumn now.  I love this time of year.  So many beautiful colours on the way, and yep, it might be raining a bit more – but that’s what coats are for isn’t it?  What has everyone been up to since the kids started back at school?  Have you managed to squeeze in any adventures?  Me and the boy took Anma up her first Wainwright and had a fab day on a lovely, sunny last weekend of summer.
