Mawgan Porth to Bedruthen Steps – Giant Steps

One slightly cloudy, rain threatened day on our Cornwall holiday, we decided to take a stroll along part of the South West Coast Path.  Originally created by coastguards on patrol, the 630 mile path runs from Minehead in Somerset, round the Cornish peninsula to Poole Harbour in Dorset.  Our walk was to be much shorter, from Mawgan Porth to Bedruthan Steps and back again.

Wainright Walk 3 – Gowbarrow Fell

With lovely weather forecast for the weekend, we decided we would visit the Lake District once more, to bag another Wainwright with Rowan.  After a bit of research using the trusty Wainwright pictorial guides and the brilliant Hillbagging website, we decided to tackle Gowbarrow Fell.  The walk we had planned was slightly shorter than our previous Wainwright walk, but included more of a climb so I was expecting it to be a bit of challenge for Rowan’s little legs.

Tintagel – Knights and Dragons

Another one of our adventures from our recent holiday to Cornwall saw us visiting a place I have been to a number of times before – Tintagel Castle.  Parking in the town, we paid £2 for the day, then walked down the main street, passing its little shops heading down towards the castle.  We stopped for a pasty (I was very excited to find a vegan one) and, as we were visiting a castle, Rowan spent some of his pirate booty from the previous day on a sword so he could be a knight. Crantock Beach – Lil Surf Dude

After returning from a week long family holiday in Cornwall with Anma, Gangan and Auntie Kaz, it has taken me a bit to get back into things. Cornwall is a beautiful place, so different to the Lake District, yet with the same ability to make me feel relaxed and at home. The beaches and surf, rugged coastline, big skies and magical place names evoke a sense of calm and peace yet at the same time, adventure and excitement. We had a fantastic week. Continue reading
